Dear Colleagues and Friends,

As a continuation of the successful series of International Conferences on Phosphonate Chemistry, Science, and Technology (ICOPHOS), it is our great pleasure to welcome you to Málaga, Spain, for the 6^th edition of the conference. ICOPHOS6 is being organized by the Synthesis and Structural Design of Materials research group from the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Crystallography and Mineralogy at the University of Málaga and will take place from 4 to 6 October 2027.

ICOPHOS6 continues the tradition of bringing together researchers, scientists, and professionals from around the world to present, discuss, and share the latest advances in phosphonate and phosphinate chemistry and their applications in science and technology. Since the first edition of the conference series was held in Swansea in 2018, ICOPHOS has become a valuable international forum for scientific exchange, fostering collaboration and promoting new ideas and developments across this multidisciplinary field.

Málaga, a Mediterranean city in southern Spain with a rich historical and cultural heritage and a dynamic academic and scientific environment. Málaga offers a unique combination of tradition and modernity, with a historic city centre, internationally renowned cultural institutions, and a privileged location on the Mediterranean coast. We hope that the city will provide not only an inspiring setting for the scientific programme, but also an enjoyable experience for all participants.

This edition of ICOPHOS will be host under the auspices of the University of Málaga (Campus Teatinos, Facultad de Derecho), which will provide an excellent setting for scientific presentations, discussion, and interaction among participants. The scientific programme will include oral and poster presentations, offering participants the opportunity to present their latest results, exchange ideas, establish new collaborations, and strengthen existing scientific networks.

As a guide, some topics to be included in the scientific programme are:

• Synthesis, characterization and structural design of Coordination Polymers

• Environmental and biomedical applications

• Catalysis and energy related applications

• Scaling up and processes

We warmly invite all the community members interested in this field to join us in Málaga for ICOPHOS6. We are confident that the conference will provide an outstanding platform for scientific exchange, the establishment of new collaborations, and the exploration of emerging directions in phosphonate and phosphinate research.
